The Peranakan Museum showcases the Baba-Nyonya (Peranakan) culture, a blend of Malay and Chinese cultures, rich in Southeast Asian characteristics. After its recent renovation and reopening, the museum offers a more spacious environment and a modern display style. Exhibits include Peranakan clothing (such as exquisite kebayas), beaded shoes, porcelain, wedding items, and household decorations, each reflecting the Peranakan community’s appreciation for aesthetic living. Through multimedia displays and interactive designs, visitors can immerse themselves in the daily life, wedding customs, and culinary culture of the Peranakans. The museum is not large but is rich and profound in content. If you are interested in multiculturalism or the history of Southeast Asian Chinese, this is definitely a place worth visiting. It is recommended to spend 1 to 1.5 hours leisurely exploring each exhibition hall.
