Walking and taking photos in Singapore

We made our way to Marina Barrage in the late afternoon, and honestly, it’s one of the most underrated places to relax in Singapore. The moment we got to the rooftop, that view of the Marina Bay skyline hit us—open skies, city backdrop, and plenty of wind. It’s the kind of place that feels peaceful even when it’s busy.
The rooftop lawn was dotted with families flying kites, couples picnicking, and kids just running around barefoot. We didn’t bring a kite but honestly regretted it—there were so many fun-looking LED and character kites floating effortlessly thanks to the consistent breeze. There’s even a shop nearby that sells them if you’re keen.
It’s not just about the views though. This place is an engineering feat—part of Singapore’s flood control system and a major reservoir. There’s a little gallery downstairs explaining how the barrage works, and it’s actually kind of cool to see sustainability turned into something this scenic. The water playground was closed when we went, but on hot days it’s perfect for kids to splash around.
We took our time strolling, found a bench, and just sat watching the sunset light up the city. It’s quiet, calming, and a great breather from the fast-paced vibe of the nearby malls and tourist attractions.
Marina Barrage is open 24 hours, so it’s great for a spontaneous visit. Whether you’re there for photos, a jog, or just some wind in your face, it’s got that breezy charm that makes you want to come back.
