#VisitHatYai #Songkhla Kao Seng is a familiar name to Songkhla residents and tourists fascinated by the legends and natural beauty of Thailand's coastline. The name comes from the fascinating legend of Nai Rang, a devout Buddhist ruler who brought treasures to enshrine the relics of the Lord Buddha. However, an unexpected event brought his wealth and life to a tragic end on this shore.
The legend of Kao Seng concerns Nai Rang, a devout Buddhist ruler. When Nakhon Si Thammarat built a stupa to enshrine the relics of the Lord Buddha, Nai Rang brought his vast wealth to participate in the ceremony. However, fate played a cruel role when his boat encountered obstacles and was unable to reach the destination. Upon learning that the ceremony was over, Nai Rang was deeply saddened and ordered his men to hide the treasure on a mountaintop, where he then committed suicide.
This incident led the locals to call the mountaintop "Hua Nai Rang" and the surrounding area "Kao Seng (nine hundred thousand)," a distortion of the sum of money Nai Rang brought.
