1220: Purchase Boat Pass & take ferry from Shuishe Pier to Xuanguang Temple Pier
1230: Hike to Xuanzang Temple
1330: Head back down to Xuanguang Temple Pier
1400: Take ferry from Xuanguang Temple Pier to Ita Thao Pier
1420: Eat lunch
1500: Walk to Sun Moon Lake Ropeway
1530: Take Sun Moon Lake Ropeway
1600: Return to Ita Thao Pier
1640: Take ferry back to Shuishe Pier
1710: Take Shuttle Bus back to Taichung City
1900: Arrive at Taichung City (Alight at Taichung HSR station / TRA station / Gancheng bus stop depending on where you need to go next)


Sun Moon Lake is beautiful and highly recommended for those looking for a quick day trip outside of Taichung City. Allocate 4-5 hours minimally to this area (as shown in the itinerary). Consider staying over at Sun Moon Lake at one of their hotels for a more complete experience.
