[Suzhou] Shantang Street, popular for its nostalgic streetscape

Shantang Street, which has a history of 1000 years, was established by Tang Dynasty poet Bai Juyi during his time as governor of Suzhou.

The streets stretch along the Shantang River, lined with restaurants and souvenir shops. On both sides of the river, there are white-walled, tiled-roofed buildings typical of Suzhou, and the red lanterns hanging there are very nostalgic! It is a popular tourist destination.

It is overflowing with tourists during Chinese holidays, so it is recommended to go on a different day or time.

It is also very tasteful to take a sightseeing boat from Huqiu to Shantang Street!
