Underrated Treasure Island ~ Taihu's Xishan Island

Pretending to vacation on a "tropical island" while still in Suzhou: "Falling in love with Taihu's sunset ๐ŸŒ‡ all over again!!!"
Spent another weekend getaway at Taihu's Xishan Island ๐ŸŒŠ
Caught the sunset ๐ŸŒ„ at Jingshan Sunset Viewing Spot ๐ŸŒด
And was treated to a surprise afterglow spectacle after sunset โœจ

Day 1: Island Arrival! Slow Living Begins
Taihu Bridge: Drive or bike across while soaking in views so beautiful you'll want to post on social media with captions like: "Ocean-view highway, you know what I mean." (It's actually a lake)
Mingyue Bay Ancient Village: Visit the millennium-old dock where the sunset is soul-soothing, perfect for taking "pretentiously artsy" photos.

Day 2: Island Hopping Adventures
Piaomiao Peak: Taihu's highest point (though only 300m elevation), shout "Behold my kingdom!" from the summit (it's all lake views)
Linwu Cave: Summer retreat where the cave is so cool you'll want to nap - just watch out for stalactites.
Island Cycling/Driving**: The lakeside road is breathtaking, with endless photo ops to pretend you're in "Little Kenting".

Food Recs

Loquats/Bayberries (seasonal treats sweeter than first love)

Accommodation Tips
Lakeside B&Bs (wake up to "ocean views" at great value)
Or camping (stargazing at night)

Verdict
Xishan Island = lake views + ancient villages + endless fresh lake delicacies, perfect for lazy escapes from city life.
Pro tip: Bring your camera and a 256G-stomach - don't ask why, just know you'll gain weight!
