A Day Trip Full of Charm and Beauty

Tongli Ancient Town is a beautiful and picturesque day trip from Suzhou or Shanghai. The town is surrounded by water and lush greenery, making it a tranquil escape. The canals, stone bridges, and the reflections of the old houses create a stunning, picture-perfect scene at every turn. Beyond the scenery, there are plenty of things to do. I spent my time exploring the Chongben and Jiayin Halls, which are known for their intricate wood carvings and Fengshui-based design. The town also has many quaint coffee shops and restaurants where you can stop for a relaxing lunch and sample local cuisine. The town is very walkable, but a boat ride is a relaxing way to see the sights.
Tips:
Many of the best photo opportunities are from the bridges, so be sure to stop and take in the views from above.
Try some of the local snacks from street vendors, such as the famous smoked pork knuckle or rice cakes.
