Suzhou Indigo
Name: Suzhou Ancient Canal Indigo Hotel
Address: Building 13, No. 79 Jinshan East Road, Huqiu District, Suzhou
🧹Soundproofing/Cleanliness:
The overall hygiene of the hotel is good, the environment is clean, providing guests with a comfortable stay.
🏘️Room Type/Layout:
Guest rooms are located from the 32nd to the 44th floor, equipped with huge floor-to-ceiling windows offering expansive views. The one-bedroom king suite I stayed in features a 270° panoramic glass window design. In the morning, the electric curtains slowly open to reveal the cityscape of Suzhou, perfect for taking photos to share. The king room includes a walk-in closet, with a reasonable layout that meets five-star standards.
🛌Amenities/Facilities:
The room has a luxurious large bathtub to meet comfort needs. However, the air conditioning cooling effect could be improved, as the room temperature is hard to lower.
💰Average Cost:
Around 700+ RMB, offering decent value for money.
💗Other Tips:
- Location: The hotel is right below the largest commercial area in the ancient city district, Longhu Shishan Tianjie, making dining, shopping, and entertainment very convenient. The nearby Huaihai Road, a popular Japanese-style check-in spot, is within walking distance. You can take Metro Line 1 directly to the historic Pingjiang Road area.
- Design Style: The hotel’s design inspiration comes from the "Prosperous Suzhou" painting depicting canal culture. Traditional elements representing Suzhou embroidery craftsmanship, the weaving office, the Qili Shantang alleys, Kunqu opera culture, and classical Suzhou gardens are newly interpreted and integrated into the restaurant, public areas, and guest rooms. Every step offers a new scene, fully showcasing the architectural and cultural beauty of Gusu. Wearing a qipao here for photos really highlights the charm of Gusu.
- Restaurant: The Pier 46 specialty restaurant and bar on the 46th floor is worth visiting. I recommend trying their dishes, especially the ham platter featuring Iberian Joselito ham paired with fresh Dongshan cherry tomatoes, buffalo cheese, and nuts—delicious and flavorful. Dining here offers a 270° unbeatable view through the huge floor-to-ceiling windows, perfect for stunning photos, and you can overlook the Suzhou nightscape, which is truly breathtaking.
- Service and Others: The owner put a lot of thought into the hotel’s opening. Staff are enthusiastic and attentive. Breakfast quality is average. Compared to the Ancient Canal Yiheng, some experiences are slightly lacking, but it still has its unique features.
Overall, Suzhou Ancient Canal Indigo Hotel, with its unique design style and convenient location, is a great choice to experience the charm of Suzhou.
