If you're visiting Tai'an, you have to start with a hike up the famous Mount Tai!

The legendary turf of Grandma Taishan did NOT disappoint—who knew the temples up top would be buzzing with so much zen energy? ✨🔥 I tackled Mount Tai (泰山) in October, and the red leaves covering the mountains plus the misty weather made the whole place look like a scene out of a mythical movie. Cloudy vibes and Chinese temple rooftops everywhere = Insta-perfect backdrops! 🌫️🍁⛰️
Started at Tianwai Village (天外村), took the classic Middle Gate route (中天门) for both the ascent and descent. The round-trip hike took me about 7 hours, but honestly, a bunch of that time was just me snapping pics of those jaw-dropping views and ancient architecture. 😂 The actual hiking? Way less brutal than you’d think—definitely doable for us 30+ crew. 🏃♂️💪
Hot tip: Mount Tai Scenic Area (泰山风景区) is open all year, but hitting it in October means you get front-row seats to those insane autumn colors. There are plenty of rest stops, temples, and snack shops along the way, so don’t stress about packing too much.
Getting there:
Taishan can be accessed from the main gate at Tianwai Village (天外村), Tai’an City, Shandong Province. The official scenic area is open 24/7, but ticketing counters generally run from 6:00 to 20:00. Pro-tip: Tickets can be grabbed easily on trip.com for hassle-free entry.
Final verdict: Perfect mountain escape packed with legendary landscapes and chill, temple vibes. If you’re craving nature, culture, AND those “wow” moments, this is THE spot to manifest your inner zen. 🧘♀️🍃
