The Drifter's Forest Music Festival: A Perfect Blend of Band Listening and Camping in Taichung, Taiwan

Held annually from November to December, the Drifter's Forest Music Festival is entering its fourth year. Located in the bald cypress forest next to Lihpao Land in Taichung, this festival offers a unique experience compared to other summer camping music festivals that are often plagued by extreme heat and heavy rain (Fuji Rock, are you listening?). The mild temperatures and lower rainfall of central Taiwan in late autumn make it an ideal time to relax under the warm autumn sun, lying on the grass with a beer in hand—super chill!

One of the organizers, who works in the design industry, puts a lot of thought into the overall visual image of the event each year. The venue is creatively decorated, and the food and cultural stalls feature famous shops from all over Taiwan, making it a great place to eat, take photos, and shop. Even though you might find the same breakfast shop near your home, enjoying it at the music festival adds a special touch of familiarity. Notably, if you choose the FullSet camping package, you will receive a limited-edition medal designed by the organizers to hang on your tent—an exclusive, non-sale souvenir!

As for the lineup, the organizers are very sincere, inviting popular bands to join the event every year. Bands like Accusefive, Cosmos People, Flesh Juicer, and Lo Sirong Band are regulars here. In 2023, they even invited the rapidly rising band 'Sheep Literature,' known for their ending theme song for Jujutsu Kaisen, bringing a new vibe to the festival with their cool noise shoegaze style.

For those planning to camp, it's recommended to drive yourself and park in the Lihpao Land parking lot. During the day, you can also explore the large outlet mall. If you want to fully relax and be lazy, you can easily settle all three meals here without having to cook—camping made easy!
