【Taichung】Miyahara Eye Clinic🍨

#Traveling Abroad

Miyahara Eye Clinic is a popular ice cream shop in Taichung, Taiwan. Originally an eye clinic during the Japanese colonial period, the building has been renovated to create a retro atmosphere. It is currently run by the Dawncake Group, and in addition to ice cream, they also sell souvenirs such as pineapple cakes and chocolates.

It is easily accessible, about a 5-minute walk from Taichung Station, and can be reached from Taipei or Kaohsiung by taking the Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR) or the Taiwan Railway (TRA).

Miyahara Eye Clinic's ice cream comes in a wide variety of flavors, with the most popular being the rich chocolate, Taiwanese fruit, and Taiwanese black tea flavors. You can also add toppings to your ice cream, and you can also enjoy it by putting cookies or cheesecake on top.

The interior of the shop is characterized by a bookstore-like interior, and while retaining the atmosphere of a former eye clinic, the classic and luxurious design is impressive. In the souvenir corner, you can purchase buttery pineapple cakes, chocolates made with high-quality cacao, and original blends of Taiwanese tea.

Business hours are from 10:00 to 22:00, and it tends to get crowded from noon to the evening, so it is relatively easy to visit in the morning or evening. If you are sightseeing in Taichung, be sure to stop by!
