For me, the Great Snow Mountain is not just a "high mountain trail"
It is a forest experience with four seasons of spectacular scenery!
Drive all the way up the Great Snow Mountain Forest Trail from Dongshi
When the forest changes from broad-leaved forest to dense coniferous forest
The cool air and phytoncides instantly surround you
Walking into the forest is like walking into a natural forest bath🥰
Go up the mountain in the morning, walk into the Xiaoshenmu Trail, and face the phytoncides
The sacred trees under the wooden plank tower into the clouds; shush~listen, that's the imperial pheasant singing
With the pink cherry blossoms outside the tourist service center, the sea of clouds rolls at the top of the forest
It feels like walking into a snowy fairy tale.
Choose the Snow Mountain Shenmu Trail to explore the 1,400-year-old giant tree
The trunk of the red cypress is thicker than a person, and standing under the tree, the whole person is generously surrounded by nature
In the afternoon, you can go to the Yakou Observation Deck and Shaolai Mountain for a walk, with a super wide view
Occasionally, you can also see Yushan from a distance. I really felt like I was in the most natural outdoor SPA.
I still remember trying to look up at the starry sky at night. After the sea of clouds dissipated, it was the vast sea of the Milky Way.
There were also flying squirrels as supporting roles. When I got up early the next morning, I could see the group of Shenmu trees shrouded in mist from the balcony, as if in a dream.

☁️The sea of clouds, cherry blossoms and snow scenes interweave
Every year from October to March, the sea of clouds appears frequently, and the morning and evening are the most spectacular; in spring, from February to March, cherry blossoms bloom, and pink cherry blossoms and the sea of clouds dance together into a fairyland ; even occasionally welcome snow scenes, the snow is covered next to the Shenmu, like a fairyland.

🌳Forest bathing + Shenmu adventure
👉🏻Small Shenmu Trail (about 1km/40 minutes): a gentle wooden plank road, suitable for family walking
👉🏻Xueshan Shenmu Trail (about 2km/1 hour round trip): Visit the 1,400-year-old giant tree, the 50m-high red cypress is shocking .

🌄Viewing platform + multiple trail options
👉🏻Yakou Observation Deck: less than 1km, with a wide view, you can see the snow-capped mountains and Guguan peaks in the distance .
👉🏻Shaolai Mountain and Yuanzui Mountain Trails: Challenging routes, suitable for climbers; the circular trail connects to Xiaoxue Mountain, and the 2-4 hour itinerary has a variety of options .
👉🏻Forest Bathing Trail (Horse Trail): 3km, about 1 hour and 10 minutes, in-depth experience of coniferous and broad-leaved mixed forests .

🐦 Rich ecology, a holy place for stargazing
The area is home to imperial pheasants, blue-bellied pheasants, mountain muntjacs, long-haired goats, white-faced flying squirrels, and Taiwan macaques, and you may encounter natural stars at any time. There is no light pollution at night, making it a great place for stargazing. Not only can you see the stars, you can also see flying squirrels dancing.

📝 Transportation & Practical Information
👉🏻Altitude range: 1,000–2,996m, with rich forest changes on the trail.
👉🏻Transportation method: Drive along the Central Cross-Island Highway + Daxueshan Forest Road (200 Forest Road) to the tourist center; you can also take the Taiwan Express to Dongshi and then transfer to the bus.
👉🏻Tickets & Opening: Tickets are about NT$200 (half-price NT$100); service hours are 06:30–17:00 .
👉🏻Accommodation recommendation: There are hotels and cabins in the recreation area that can accommodate two meals, suitable for arranging two days and one night .

If you want to have a forest bath, wild animals, sea of clouds, cherry blossoms, snow scenery, starry sky and sacred trees at the same time, Daxueshan will really make you fall in love with it💚!

📌 Tips: The temperature on the mountain is low, remember to keep warm + windproof; the trail is gentle and can be walked in depth, suitable for all ages; accommodation is convenient, it is recommended to stay overnight and travel slowly.
