🏯 Taichung's National Manga Museum is Taiwan's first national-level museum dedicated to comics. Housed within the historic buildings of the Taichung Prison in Taichung's West District, the museum covers 2.75 hectares and cleverly blends historic Japanese architecture with modern manga culture, offering a unique exhibition experience.
The museum boasts a rich collection of over 10,000 comic magazines, single-volume books, and over 4,000 manuscripts, covering classic and contemporary Taiwanese comics from the Japanese colonial period to the present day. Exhibitions are curated around diverse themes, including "Read, Appreciate, Live, Explore, Enjoy, and Pursue." The museum also features a nostalgic book rental store, a manga-themed hotel, and an interactive experience area.
This is not only a mecca for comics fans, but also a new cultural landmark for families to experience the evolution of Taiwanese comics. Admission is free, so if you're in Taichung, don't miss it.
