The affable and approachable "Village Chief of the Godly World" is just like the village chief. #Taimali Fuxing Palace Fude Zhengshen (Lucky Cat Earth God Temple) - Taimali Township, Taitung County

#AugustDestinations2025
This Tudigong Temple, located in Taimali Township, Taitung County, was once a popular photo-op attraction thanks to a large red lantern with the word "Taimali" inscribed on it, a replica of Tokyo's Kaminarimon Gate. Before the maneki-neko (lucky cat) was a common sight, the place was relatively unpopular. However, after a half-faced maneki-neko (lucky cat) was placed in the temple's restroom, the area saw a surge in visitors, making parking difficult. The original bright red lantern with the word "Taimali" gradually faded to a pinkish hue after weathering the elements. This time, while on a trip to Taitung, I stopped by the Tudigong Temple. The alley in front of the temple was packed with people and cars. After finally parking, I saw many tourists snapping photos of the maneki-neko (lucky cat) in front of the temple. Previously, the temple didn't sell any merchandise, but after the maneki-neko's blessing, amulets made of maneki-neko (lucky cat) have become a popular business. According to folklore, the God of Land is the ruler of the earth, a symbol of wealth. He is also believed to bless the land with peace, a good harvest, wealth, and good fortune. Therefore, many businesses and families worship the God of Land. Many people worship the God of Land on the second day of the second lunar month (the first birthday) and the sixteenth day of the twelfth lunar month (the last birthday), offering gifts of wealth and water to pray for prosperity in the coming year.
