The Tainan Judicial Museum, formerly the former Tainan District Court, is located in the heart of Tainan City and is one of the best-preserved examples of court architecture from the Japanese colonial period in Taiwan. The building, a blend of diverse styles, holds not only historical value but also serves as a prominent Tainan landmark. Designed by Japanese architect Matsunosuke Moriyama and completed in 1912, the building blends Neoclassical, Baroque, and Renaissance elements. Its most striking features include its central dome, guard towers, and Masson-style roof. From its completion, the building served as the judicial center of Tainan until the court relocated in 2001. In 2004, the former Tainan District Court was designated a national monument and, after extensive restoration, reopened in 2016 as a judicial museum showcasing Taiwan's judicial history. Today, the former Tainan District Court has been revitalized as a judicial museum, showcasing numerous judicial artifacts and historical materials. Visitors can explore the former courtroom, prison, and other areas, and learn about the evolution of Taiwan's judicial system through exhibits.
