The Beitou Hot Spring Museum is located in Beitou District, Taipei City, Taiwan. It is a museum that introduces the history, geology, and culture of Beitou Hot Springs.
You can reach the museum by taking the MRT to Xinbeitou Station and walking for about fifteen minutes. From a distance, the museum has a quaint and classical appearance.
The Beitou Hot Spring Museum was established in 2003. Originally, it was a public bathhouse built during the Japanese colonial period. After renovations and re-planning, it became the museum it is today. Inside the museum, there are several exhibition halls that introduce various topics such as the formation of Beitou Hot Springs, dining after soaking in the hot springs, the properties of the hot springs, the relationship between indigenous people and hot springs, and the development of hot springs during the Japanese colonial period.
One of the exhibition halls, called the 'Hot Spring Experience Area,' features a simulated hot spring source and bathtub, allowing visitors to experience the feel of a real hot spring. Additionally, the museum offers guided tours and related activities such as hot spring knowledge lectures and workshops.
When I visited, it was the Mid-Autumn Festival, and the museum was decorated with lanterns for the occasion, making it a great spot for photos.
Overall, the Beitou Hot Spring Museum is a place suitable for the whole family to visit. It allows people to gain a deeper understanding of the culture and natural beauty of Beitou Hot Springs.
