Let's go to the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall in Taiwan on this trip!!✈️
🛄ㅣChiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall🏛
One of the places I really wanted to visit while traveling in Taiwan was the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall. This place is famous for being a representative historical landmark and magnificent architecture in Taiwan, and when I visited it in person, I couldn't help but be amazed by its scale and atmosphere.
As soon as I got on the Taipei MRT and arrived at Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall Station (中正紀念堂站), the huge memorial hall caught my eye the moment I exited the exit. The Liberty Square (自由廣場) that unfolded before my eyes was much larger than I had imagined, and the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall in the distance stood majestically like a palace. At the entrance stands a large Freedom Square Gate (自由廣場牌樓), which is said to be as high as 30m. The sight of the blue tiles on top of the pure white arched gate was truly beautiful.😃
On the right side of the square was the National Theater (國家戲劇院), and on the left was the National Concert Hall (國家音樂廳). Both buildings were in the traditional Chinese architectural style, and the red pillars and golden roofs shone even more splendidly in the sunlight!!
In particular, the dragon carvings and detailed patterns on the roof of the building caught my eye. When I looked closely, I saw that each delicate pattern and carving was intricately carved, and the scale was also enormous~😀
When I looked straight ahead from the center of the square, I could see the magnificent Zhongzheng Memorial Hall with blue tiles on top of the white memorial hall in the distance. At first, it seemed a bit far away, but as I got closer, its size and presence became stronger.
The memorial hall was designed based on traditional Chinese architecture, and the white exterior walls symbolize integrity and purity, while the blue tiles symbolize freedom and peace. The square shape of the building symbolizes the earth (大地), and the round roof symbolizes the sky (天), which is said to reflect traditional Eastern philosophy.
In particular, the 89 steps leading up to the memorial hall caught my eye, which are said to symbolize the 89 years of Chiang Kai-shek’s life. When I looked from afar, the steps didn’t seem that many, but when I got closer and climbed them, they were steeper and longer than I thought!!
From above, I could see the entire plaza at a glance. The Freedom Square Gate, the National Theater, the National Music Hall, and the people freely walking between them… The sight was as beautiful as a painting👍
If you visit Taipei, I highly recommend stopping by the Freedom Square of the Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall to experience this special atmosphere for yourself!🫠
