Taipei was drizzling when I ducked into Cheng Wei Zhen — but inside was warm, buzzing, and smelled like soy, garlic, and comfort.

A hot bowl of meatball and wonton soup was all I needed to feel cozy.

The seating is humble, the atmosphere relaxed. Families, office workers, and couples huddled around their trays — quietly enjoying their meal. That’s when you know you’re at a local favorite.

I was alone that day, but never felt lonely with that bowl in front of me.
