Taipei Life | Rainy Days and Yongkang Street: A Perfect Match

In the days I spent living in Taipei, every rainy day felt like the city was playing a lyrical symphony, and Yongkang Street was the most poetic part of this rainy melody.

Today, with a gentle drizzle falling, I stepped lightly into Yongkang Street. Normally bustling with activity, the street, shrouded in rain, felt quieter and more serene. Raindrops fell on the cobblestone paths, creating a crisp rhythm, as if narrating the stories of this old street.

Strolling along the street, the unique shops on both sides appeared even more charming in the rain. The artsy coffee shops, with their warm yellow lights glowing through the windows, seemed to gently invite passersby to step in, take shelter, and rest. I wandered into one such café, ordered a rich latte, and sat by the window. Through the misty glass, I quietly observed the rain-soaked street. Pedestrians with colorful umbrellas hurried by, forming a beautiful, dynamic painting.

As the rain eased, I left the café to savor the culinary delights of Yongkang Street. The famous soup dumplings, with their thin skin and juicy filling, burst with flavor in every bite. And the creamy, rich mango shaved ice—on this cool, rainy day, one bite filled me with instant happiness.

Rainy Taipei, rainy Yongkang Street, carries a unique kind of romance. This special experience is something I feel compelled to capture with my camera and words, preserving it in detail.
