Taipei JR East Hotel, Polari An Japanese Restaurant

A spontaneous decision to dine at Polari An, taking advantage of the 'four dine for the price of three' promotion (as low as under $1000 per person).

From now until July 16, the restaurant is hosting a grand Thai Food Festival 🎉

Special dishes include Volcano Pork Ribs, Waterfall Matsusaka Pork, Thai Pomelo Chicken Salad, Massaman Curry Beef, Satay Chicken Skewers, Green Curry Crab with Bread, Teppanyaki Squid, Moon Shrimp Cakes, and the rich and tangy Tom Yum Goong Seafood Soup.

Additionally, there’s a limited-time dish of Snow Crab paired with Steamed Lemon Fish (one serving per person), which was the highlight of the evening for me 🥳

Unfortunately, the Thai dishes this time didn’t stand out in terms of flavor, and many pork dishes had a strong pork taste 🙈

Luckily, JR’s classics like the JR Provence Lamb Chops, Wellington Beef (available during weekend dining), and French-style Braised Beef Tongue were present 🥰

JR’s French-style Grilled Lamb Chops are exceptional—perfectly cooked to medium rare, tender, and flavorful. Be sure to eat them while hot, as the fat becomes too prominent when cold, diminishing the taste! For those who prefer well-done meat, you can ask the chef to re-grill it on the teppanyaki station for added Maillard aroma.

The Wellington Beef still lacked soul, but the beef quality was decent (all four diners tonight agreed that the version at Yue Market was better).

The fresh seafood section was the second highlight of the evening, with tables filled with salmon belly for unlimited self-service indulgence 🥰 The seared sushi was also quite good, though the red crab was completely unavailable (at least not offered this season 😅).

Desserts were still underwhelming, with only one flavor of Häagen-Dazs left! Other options included Ming Fruit’s lychee, Thai milk tea, mango, and coconut flavors.

The 'four dine for the price of three' promotion is only available until June 10!
