Taipei Grand Hotel

The Grand Hotel in Taipei is one of the city's most famous hotels. As you head towards Shilin Night Market, you'll notice this massive hotel on your right. While many assume it's an expensive 5-star hotel, the price for a night's stay is surprisingly reasonable. On weekdays, you can book a windowless room for around 150,000 KRW.

We stayed in an annex room with windows. Although the terrace connects directly to the neighboring room, compromising privacy, the view was absolutely stunning. In fact, the main reasons for staying at the Grand Hotel are the view and the luxury stay experience, right? Even the view from the annex is equally impressive as the main building.

The hotel pool is located a bit away from the main hotel building. To access the pool, you'll pass by a security office where you need to provide your room number before entering. We expected the pool to be less crowded, but to our surprise, there were quite a few people. Given the hotel's large size, it's understandable that the pool attracts many guests.

Exploring the hotel itself is quite enjoyable due to its sheer scale. Looking down at the lobby from the second floor is grand and awe-inspiring. However, the hotel is so vast that it's easy to get lost. After checking in, we couldn't find our room and had to ask a staff member for directions. It would be helpful if the hotel added more signs to guide guests to their rooms.

This is a hotel I would definitely revisit when in Taipei. The hotel frequently operates shuttle buses to Shilin Station, making transportation more convenient than expected. With so much to see and experience within the hotel, one stay feels insufficient. I look forward to returning for another relaxing staycation!
