The Grand Hotel Taipei: A Five-Star Palace of Oriental Classical Aesthetics

The Grand Hotel, a landmark of Taipei, is a palace-style building full of oriental aesthetics. It is the first five-star hotel in Taiwan, with red pillars and golden tiles, standing majestically like a pagoda on Yuanshan. It faces the Keelung River to the front, backs onto Yangmingshan, looks towards Songshan to the east, and overlooks Tamsui to the west, making it a prime location with excellent feng shui.

The room types at The Grand Hotel are broadly divided into two categories. The first is the interior rooms without windows, which are about 6-8 pings in size and priced around NT$3000. The second, and most popular, are the rooms with exterior balconies, ranging from 10-15 pings for superior, deluxe, and elite rooms, to 20-39 pings for sky and panoramic suites, with prices ranging from NT$4000 to NT$10000.

The antique and elegant Chinese style has always been favored by foreign tourists. Especially since The Grand Hotel is located at a high point, during the day you can overlook the Taipei Basin, and at night, you can enjoy the brightly lit cityscape.
