Before transferring to the National Palace Museum at Shilin MRT Station, consider stopping by the "Second Life Cafe" to fill up before your intellectual adventure.
The cafe has plenty of seating, but even on non-weekends, it's often packed by lunchtime. It's recommended to call ahead to avoid disappointment.
In addition to the usual Americanos, lattes, and teas, the menu also features four specialty coffees: "Sour, Sweet, Bitter, and Spicy," each priced at NT$170. This time, I only wanted an Americano, so I waited for my friends to order before discovering these four special coffee flavors. I'm determined to try them again next time.
For food, in addition to the brunch platter, there are also waffles and cakes. The brunch platter doesn't come with a drink; drinks must be ordered a la carte. The price range is mid-range, with a sophisticated and sophisticated aesthetic.
I highly recommend the "Sea Salt Caramel Beef Burger" for NTD360 and an Americano for NTD120, with no service charge. I initially thought the sea salt caramel would be applied to the beef patty and sandwiched between the burgers, but it actually came in a small, accompanying bowl. The burger was quite thick, and the rice bun was quite chewy. Besides the lettuce, there was a layer of hamburger patty, a thick layer of ham, melted cheese slices, and a soft-boiled egg. Be careful when picking it up, as the egg liquid doesn't drip. To avoid it from spilling everywhere, I ended up eating it with a knife and fork. I cut the burger patty and dipped it in the sea salt caramel sauce. The salty-sweet combination was a perfect balance, a bit like toffee with a burger, but not overly sweet. The subtle caramel aroma gave the taste buds a unique impact. The accompanying fries were also delicious, freshly fried, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Even without the dipping sauce, they were incredibly filling.
