Wenzhou's gentleness is the misty morning in the mountains, the lively atmosphere of the seafood market, and a bowl of wontons at the corner of an old street. Here's a three-day, two-night slow travel guide for those who want a "lie-down vacation"!
Day 1: Old Town Stories and Seafood Feast
Morning: Artistic Awakening at Mochi Lane
The art museum in Mochi Park houses Wenzhou's thousand-year-old cultural heritage. The wooden door of Zhu Ziqing's former residence creaks open, as if taking you back to the Republican era. Don't miss the almond tofu dessert shop at the entrance of the alley! It's icy cold with a hint of mint, perfect for cooling down.
Afternoon: The Hustle and Bustle of Shuomen Old Street
An old street untouched by commercialization! Grandmas sit on their doorsteps drying salted fish, and the sound of storytelling drifts from the old teahouse. "Changren Wontons" have paper-thin skin and shrimp fillings that will tantalize your taste buds. Buy a piece of glutinous rice cake from the shop next door; it's soft and chewy with the fragrance of sweet osmanthus.
Evening: A Love Letter from the Waves of Dongtou Island
Drive for 1 hour to Dongtou (about 2 hours by bus). The colorful fishing village under the sunset looks like an overturned palette! Must-try dishes at the open-air food stalls include razor clams with scallions and fried crabs. Enjoy a feast for around CNY 80 per person. Stay in a seaside homestay and fall asleep to the sound of the waves.
Day 2: Poetic Landscapes and Rejuvenating Spa
Morning: Waterfall Therapy at Baizhangji Waterfall
The "highest waterfall in China" lives up to its name! The spray of water hits your face, and rainbows appear and disappear. It is recommended to wear non-slip shoes, as the stone path under the waterfall can be slippery.
Afternoon: Taishun Covered Bridges: A Time Capsule
After a 2-hour drive, arrive at the "hometown of covered bridges." The ancient camphor trees by the Beijian Bridge have stood guard for thousands of years. Jump back and forth on the Dingbu Bridge and rediscover your inner child! Don't forget to soak in the radon springs on your way back. The mountain hot springs will cure all your fatigue.
