The Jinci Museum is part of the larger Jinci Temple complex in Jinyuan District, Taiyuan, Shanxi. 
It began in 1952 and serves multiple roles: preserving cultural relics, doing research, displaying exhibits, educating the public, and integrating with the scenic historical site. 
In May 2024, it was classified among the national first‑class museums in China. 
Located in Jinci Park, in Jinci Town, Jinyuan District, southwest of Taiyuan (~25 km from Taiyuan city centre). 
It is within the Jinci & Tianlongshan Scenic Area, which is large (~3.86 square kilometers) and includes gardens, mountains, temples, museum exhibitions, etc.
