Address: Qintong Town, Jiangyan District, Taizhou City, Jiangsu Province
Navigation: Qinhu Wetland Park
Duration: 1 day
Internal Transportation:
Large Boat: Must take from the visitor center to the core scenic area, the cost is included in the ticket. Walk about 500 meters from the main entrance to board the large boat, which functions like a park shuttle bus.
Rowing Boat: In the wetland maze area, ❗️highly recommended❗️ to pay for a ride (about 80 RMB/boat, seats 6 people). The boatwoman sings folk songs while navigating through the reeds, providing a very immersive experience.
Sightseeing Car: Connects the main attractions within the park, suitable for saving energy.
Walking/Cycling: The park has well-maintained trails, but the distances are long and it is very hot in summer, so not recommended. The temperature was 33°C during the National Day holiday.
Recommended Route:
Visitor Center → Qinhu (tour by large boat) → Wetland Science Museum (first stop after disembarking, an ecological museum) → Milu Deer Home (feeding deer) → Milu Deer Viewing Platform (estimated hundreds of deer) → Return.
❤️Several highly recommended experiences:
1. Rowing boat with boatwoman’s folk songs: This is the soul of Qinhu and not to be missed. The boatmen are usually elderly locals, and the rowing boat is very traditional without any technology, which feels very authentic.
2. Stunning Green Wonderland: After feeding the milu deer at the deer home, we walked about 2 kilometers to the viewing platform. This 2-kilometer walk was unexpectedly beautiful. Most people who take cars or other activities miss this part. I strongly recommend walking here for a great experience.
3. The experience at the Milu Deer Viewing Platform was not as good as expected. There are many deer and it is spacious, and you can feed the deer, but because of the heat, the deer roll in the mud and then on the grass, causing many areas of the grass to be very dark and dirty, as shown in photo P1. Many people may feel it is quite dirty.
4. At the exit, there is a 900-year-old turtle. Seeing it, the turtle has been commercialized, but I still thought it was quite nice.
⭕️Notes:
1. The temperature was still 33°C in October when we visited, very hot and sunny. Friends from northern China should be aware that this is northern summer weather.
2. It is recommended to stay in Taizhou. Taizhou has many very good dining options, but wait times are long and require queuing in advance. On holidays, waits can be 2 hours or more.
3. We caught a scarab beetle, which we had only seen in museums before. This time we really saw it in the forest.
