Ritsurin Garden is an urban park and Japanese garden located in Takamatsu City, Kagawa Prefecture. It is designated as a special place of scenic beauty of the country and is also part of the Takamatsu Historical and Cultural Road. In the Michelin tourist guide released on March 16, 2009, it was rated the highest level, 3 stars, as a "spot worth a special visit." In 2012, the American professional garden magazine "Japanese Garden Journal" ranked Ritsurin Garden third in the "2011 Japanese Garden Ranking" after the Adachi Museum of Art and Katsura Imperial Villa.
The entire park is designed as a pond and spring garden. There are six pools and thirteen rockery in the park. It has the reputation of "one step, one view", and people can enjoy the ever-changing scenery with every step they take. The view from the artificial hill "Fei Lai Feng" is particularly wonderful, and you can see the representative attractions of the park.
There are more than 1,400 carefully trimmed pine trees in the park. Among them, there is the "Neogami five-leaf pine" which has grown from a bonsai in the Edo period into a towering tree, as well as many other pine trees with graceful postures, which are a major attraction of the park.
