Yashima Aquarium

This rare aquarium is located on top of a mountain, at an elevation of just 300 meters!

Shin-Yashima Aquarium is home to a pair of West Indian manatees, rare in Japan (there are only six of them in Japan!).
Their unique, slow-moving movements with their large bodies are truly soothing.

The souvenir shop at Shin-Yashima Aquarium is undoubtedly focused on manatees.
Manatee-themed characters can also be found throughout the aquarium.
