Hida Kokubunji Temple

Hida Kokubunji Temple, located in Takayama City, Gifu Prefecture, Japan, was established in 746 AD by Emperor Shomu. It was built to honor the gods of peace and prosperity. The temple features a three-story pagoda, which was added later during the Edo period in 1821. This temple is considered one of the oldest and most historic temples in the Hida region. It has been designated as a national historic site and cultural heritage. Additionally, the temple grounds are home to a ginkgo tree that is over 1,200 years old.
