Sasayama Castle without a Tenshu (main keep)

Sasayama Castle was built in 1609 in Tamba Sasayama, Hyogo Prefecture, a key transportation hub. Instead of a Tenshu, the large study hall (Daishoin), constructed around the same time as the castle, served as the political center.

This large wooden structure was a room only accessible to the feudal lord. Although it was destroyed by fire in January 1944, it was reconstructed in 2000.

The autumn leaves are beautiful, and many tourists visit in spring for the cherry blossoms. It is a place that can be enjoyed in different seasons.

Admission fee: 400 yen.
Closed on Mondays.
