King Wen was imprisoned and interpreted the Book of Changes in Youli City

Friends who have watched 'The Investiture of the Gods' should be familiar with King Wen of Zhou. And Youli City is the place where King Zhou imprisoned King Wen Ji Chang, so it is known as the first prison in China with historical evidence and addressable location.

It is said that King Wen of Zhou was trapped here for 7 years. During this period, he deduced 64 hexagrams and 384 lines based on the eight trigrams of Fuxi, and put forward the viewpoint of 'the rigid and the soft are relative, and the change is in it' which is rich in simple dialectics. This is what the Historical Records calls 'King Wen was imprisoned and interpreted the Book of Changes'.

The surface relics of 3000 years ago naturally no longer exist. The halls we see now are mostly newly built around 1993, but some inscriptions are left from the Ming and Qing dynasties.

Recently, cultural tourism in various places is attracting tourists in various ways, and Youli City is no exception. I saw a young lady from the local cultural tourism department recording a video on the spot.

Behind the scenic area, there is a maze designed according to the Book of Changes. It is intricate and full of mechanisms. Watching people have fun looking for the exit inside, it seems to complement each other.
