⌇ Detour Spots
Tateyama is about an hour away on the Aqua Line. It's perfect for a trip to nearby areas. Here are some recommended spots that we visited.
1. Yasuda Elementary School Roadside Station
A closed elementary school has been reborn as a roadside station.
There's a restaurant where you can get nostalgic school lunches, and a market selling souvenirs and vegetables from Chiba Prefecture.
You can even stay overnight in a classroom!
2. Banya Main Building
A restaurant run directly by the Yasuda Fisheries Cooperative that serves delicious fresh fish.
Recommended dish for the day is boiled golden-eyed snapper.
The fluffy flesh and sweet and spicy broth go great with rice.
3. Traycle
A cafe that uses a 100-year-old nationally registered tangible cultural property.
The tree-shaped muffin on the seasonal menu is made with matcha and black sesame cream.
7. Okamoto Pier
A pier famous as a filming location.
The road to get here is extremely narrow, so drive carefully! Unfortunately, there was a strong wind and it was too cold so we left early.
It doesn't show up well in the photo, but Mt. Fuji looked beautiful.
