The Mighty Huka Falls

Near Taupo on New Zealand's North Island, Huka Falls presents a spectacular wonder on the Waikato River. The river, which flows through a channel about 100 meters wide, abruptly narrows into a gorge only 15 meters across. With a tremendous force, over 220,000 liters of water per second surge down an 11-meter drop, churning into a powerful rush of roaring white foam—inspiring the Māori name "Huka," meaning "foam." The waterfall's striking turquoise-blue hue adds to its allure, making it one of New Zealand’s most popular and awe-inspiring natural landmarks.
