Quiet beautiful monastery in Tbilisi

Visiting Shavnabada Monastery turned out to be one of those pleasantly unexpected discoveries. The easiest way to get there is by taxi - it's about a 15-minute ride from central Tbilisi, but feels worlds away. The monastery sits high on a hill surrounded by forest, and when I arrived, the only sounds were birds singing and leaves rustling.

What makes this place special is its peaceful atmosphere. Unlike some of the more famous monasteries, there were hardly any tourists when I visited - just a few monks going about their day. The main church is small but beautiful, with simple frescoes and the scent of candles in the air. Women need to cover their heads, and photography inside isn't allowed.

The real highlight is the view from the grounds. You can see all of Tbilisi spread out below. I spent about an hour just walking the quiet paths around the monastery, enjoying the calm. If you're looking for a peaceful escape from the city without going far, this is perfect.
