Heshun Ancient Town is located four kilometers southwest of Tengchong City, Yunnan Province. It was first built in the Ming Dynasty and has a history of more than 600 years. It was named "Heshun" because a small river flowed around it. Later, literati and scholars changed the name to "Heshun" with the meaning of "harmony between scholars and people". The town has a population of more than 7,000, including more than 30,000 overseas Chinese. This place was once an important caravan town in Yunnan and even the whole country, and a must-pass place on the ancient "Southwest Silk Road". During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, more than 400 juren and xiucai emerged here. It is the hometown of Yin Rong, the national teacher of four dynasties of Myanmar, Zhang Baoting, the jade king, and Ai Siqi, the famous philosopher. The ancient town is built on the hillside and surrounded by water, stretching for several miles. Home to temples, Taoist temples, ancestral halls and numerous alleys, Heshun Ancient Town has completely preserved the architectural layout of the traditional street and alley spaces of "three courtyards and one screen wall", "Siheyuan" and "Siheyuan and five patios". Walking into it, you can see the poetic and picturesque scenery of "the distant mountains are vast, the nearby water is melodious, and the hills under Wanjia are much better than those of Suzhou and Hangzhou". There are more than 100 Qing Dynasty mansions, which are a combination of Chinese and Western architecture. They have the gracefulness of Anhui style, the brightness of Western style, and some Southeast Asian style, and are very beautiful.
