- Best time to visit: Spring (March–May) offers blooming flowers, while autumn (September–November) boasts clear skies. Both seasons provide comfortable weather ideal for sightseeing.
- Transportation: Typically, fly into Paro International Airport, Bhutan's only international airport, and then travel to Thimphu by car. Self-driving and independent travel are not permitted in Bhutan; trips must be arranged through a travel agency.
- Recommended attractions: Tashichho Dzong houses the nation's highest political and religious authorities and features traditional architecture. Simtokha Dzong, a historic site, once served as an educational center. The National Memorial Chorten is a significant religious site. The Motithang Takin Preserve is home to the takin, Bhutan's national animal.
- Shopping: Purchase unique souvenirs such as handwoven textiles, masks, wooden bowls, and exquisite stamps.
- Important notes: Before eating, toss a small portion of food into the air as an offering. Refrain from buying unauthorized religious artifacts and antiques. Cigarettes are not sold in Bhutan, and smoking is prohibited in public places.
