On the road: Jizhou White Pagoda - a unique Liao Dynasty Buddhist pagoda.

Jizhou White Pagoda Temple, located in Baita Hutong in the old city of Jizhou, is a famous Buddhist cultural heritage. The temple was built because of the pagoda. The structure of the White Pagoda is ingenious and the shape is exquisite. It is a masterpiece of religious art. The White Pagoda was originally part of the Dule Temple and was built in the fourth year of Qingning in the Liao Dynasty (1058). It was originally named Yuyang County Pagoda. Later, because the pagoda was white, it was commonly known as the White Pagoda.

The height of the White Pagoda is 30.6 meters, and the plane is octagonal. The base of the pagoda is built with granite strips and blue bricks. The body of the White Pagoda is composed of the base of the pagoda, the body of the pagoda, the bowl, the thirteen-day phase wheel and the pagoda. It is a combination of Chinese pavilion style, dense eaves style and bowl style. Most of the Liao Dynasty Buddhist pagodas in the north are thirteen-story dense eaves brick pagodas. It is rare to see such a well-preserved shape like the White Pagoda.
