Nihonbashi, Tokyo. The starting point of Japan's national highways, "Origin Marker Square"

This is the "Origin Marker Square" in Nihonbashi, Tokyo, which marks the starting point of Japan's national highways.

It is located on the west side of the north end of Nihonbashi.
It is said that it originally started as the starting point of the Five Highways in 1604.
The Five Highways are the Tokaido, Nakasendo, Nikko Kaido, Oshu Kaido, and Koshu Kaido.

The items installed in the "Origin Marker Square" are replicas of road origin markers. They are displayed with explanations.
The "Origin Marker of Japanese National Roads" is embedded in the center of the bridge, but it is difficult to see because it is in the center of the road. The inscription is said to be the work of former Prime Minister Eisaku Sato.

This square also has black road markers and Tokyo City road origin markers.
