[Tokyo] Tsukiji Honganji Temple: A temple where you can feel the roots of the introduction of Buddhism

Tsukiji Honganji is a majestic and unique Buddhist temple located near Tsukiji Market, a famous seafood market in Tokyo. The main hall, originally built near Asakusa, was destroyed in a major fire called the "Great Fire of Meireki", and the current Tsukiji Honganji was rebuilt. 🥸

The Japanese-Western style exterior, which sets it apart from other temples and shrines in Japan, was designed by Dr. Chuta Ito, who traveled to Asian countries and the Silk Road for architectural research, and imitates Buddhist architecture from India and other countries. The interior features stained glass windows and sculptures of a wide variety of animals such as elephants, horses, and cows, creating an oriental atmosphere where Japanese Buddhist culture and world culture are condensed into one. 🛕

It has also been designated as a national important cultural property, and it is a place that makes you feel the roots of the introduction of Buddhism. 😌
