Tokyo Attractions|Sumida Park: A Great Spot for Cherry Blossoms and Fireworks Festivals

#Tokyo Attractions

Sumida Park is located between Asakusa, Hanagawado, Imado in Taito Ward and Mukaijima in Sumida Ward, along both sides of the Sumida River. In spring, this place is famous for its approximately 700 cherry trees in full bloom, making it an ideal place for cherry blossom viewing and has been selected as one of the 100 most famous cherry blossom spots in Japan. In summer, this is the scene of the sizzling Sumida River Fireworks Festival. These cherry trees originated from the planning of the eighth shogun Tokugawa Yoshimune and have attracted countless tourists to admire the beautiful scenery since the Edo period. We were not lucky enough to encounter the cherry blossom season this year, so we could only enjoy the scenery of the Sumida River.
