Asakusa Temple, the essence of traditional Japan in the heart of Tokyo

Sensoji Temple, commonly known as "Asakusa Temple," is the oldest Buddhist temple in Tokyo, located in the Asakusa district. Its highlight is the Kaminarimon Gate, which features a giant red lantern hanging as a symbol of the area and a popular photo spot. Passing through the gate, you will find Nakamise Street, filled with shops selling traditional Japanese sweets, souvenirs, and keepsakes. This temple is also a place where tourists can experience the culture, such as drawing omikuji (fortune slips), wearing yukata, or strolling around in kimono. Despite the bustling crowd of tourists, it still retains an impressive sacred atmosphere and traditional Japanese ambiance.
