In the quiet industrial area of Shin-Kiba, Koto City, I visited CASICA — a beautifully renovated space that was once an old timber warehouse. Its concept, “the ancient Japanese culture of reinterpretation (見立て文化)”, perfectly captures the spirit of blending the old with the new.

For lunch, I enjoyed a seasonal autumn kamameshi (rice pot) and a cup of herbal tea infused with cinnamon bark and loquat leaves — soothing, aromatic, and deeply comforting. The flavors felt like a gentle embrace of autumn itself.

After the meal, we wandered through the store’s curated selection of interior goods, tableware, and artisanal crafts, all thoughtfully displayed in the warm, wood-scented space. Every corner invited conversation and discovery — a perfect balance of tradition and modern design.
