Gongcheng Academy, formerly known as Luomeng Academy, also known as Luoshan Academy, is located at the foot of Luomeng Mountain in Xianxi Town, 43 kilometers northwest of Tongdao Dong Autonomous County, Huaihua City, Hunan Province. It was built in the Northern Song Dynasty and is the most complete ancient Dong academy in China.

Gongcheng Academy has a construction area of ​​1,860 square meters and covers an area of ​​2,830 square meters. It faces east and west, and rises step by step along the mountain. What makes it different from other academies is that its floor plan is in the shape of a "gui" with one vertical and four horizontal parts. It consists of four parts: a gatehouse, dormitories, lecture halls, and corridors. They are all wooden structures and are arranged in sequence on the central axis along the longitudinal direction. A longitudinal corridor in the middle connects the four buildings into a whole. There are patios between each building. The whole building has two floors, and there are 6 dormitories symmetrically distributed on both sides. The eaves, doors and windows of the building are simply decorated, and the components are made in the same way as local houses, reflecting the characteristics of academy architecture in ethnic minority areas.

Gongcheng Academy is of great value to the study of the ancient architectural art of the Dong ethnic group and historical and cultural education, and it is worth a visit.
