📍Teshima/Kagawa Prefecture

Teshima (pronounced "Teshima") is a small island in the Seto Inland Sea. As its name suggests, this small island is rich enough to be self-sufficient on the island, with pure spring water, crops, rice, and fish. Teshima was hit by pollution caused by illegal dumping of industrial waste that continued from around 1978. Pollution on an unprecedented scale, fish could no longer be caught, children suffered from asthma, and negative rumors continued for several years. The island's residents have been fighting for many years to restore the island's former abundance, and as part of the Setouchi Triennale, art has been brought to the island, making it known as an island of contemporary art. 🖼

We can't change the past, but knowing that this island exists now after overcoming immeasurable anger and sadness, my love for Teshima far exceeded my expectations before I went. 😌🤍

It's about 35 minutes by regular ferry from Takamatsu Port. ⛴ Because it's a small island, you can rent bicycles (electric bicycles). /4 hours 1,000 yen) is recommended 🚲

The landmark is the Teshima Art Museum 🫧
I wonder if it is appropriate to categorize it as a "museum", but there is only one piece of art, and the overwhelming immersion will overturn your previous concept 🫢

Photography is not allowed inside the museum, so please come and experience it with your own eyes 😁
Please note that reservations are required via online tickets ✍️

Blue skies, blue seas, tranquil nature, the whole island is art and Teshima is beautiful no matter where you look 🌿
