Day 1: Pre-trip Stay
After finishing work on Friday, I managed to leave earlier than expected! I hopped on the limited express train "Super Hakuto" and stayed at a hotel near Tottori Station to prepare for the next day. Thanks to JR West's WESTER points, I was able to travel at a discounted price, which was a big help.
Day 2: Sand Dunes → Pears → Hakuto Shrine in Tottori
In the morning, I rented a car and headed to the Tottori Sand Dunes! I walked barefoot on the sand to fully experience the dunes. Oh, but since the weather was good, it was fine, but I recommend bringing sandals to prevent injuries or burns. Please be careful.
Next, I drove a bit from the dunes to buy some pears, which was the main goal! I discovered a variety I had never seen before and thoroughly enjoyed its taste. ✨✨
On the way to Shimane, I stopped by Hakuto Shrine. It's a shrine associated with a legend about hard work paying off and being rewarded. Located by the seaside, it was a beautiful spot. 😊😊
Day 3: Ryuzugataki Waterfall → Izumo Taisha Shrine → Sakaguchiya in Shimane
In the morning, I went to see a waterfall! On the way, I was terrified by a sign warning about Asiatic black bears. But that fear was short-lived as I encountered a breathtaking view. This was the highlight of my trip. I definitely want to visit again.
Next, I visited the iconic Izumo Taisha Shrine in Shimane. The grandeur of the Kaguraden Hall was overwhelming. This time, I had to rush through, so next time, I want to try the famous Izumo soba!
Actually, I held off on eating soba for a reason. It was to eat at my friend's family restaurant! The place is called "Sakaguchiya," where I enjoyed the local specialty, wariko soba. Without any bias or flattery, it was truly delicious!!! The tempura bowl had the perfect texture, and the soba, served in stacked layers with condiments, was amazing. I highly recommend visiting!
That's all from Hijiki's budget-friendly trip! The total cost this time was about 40,000 yen! Great value for money!!
