This national museum, established by the Fine Arts Department, aims to serve the local community's needs as a center for the study, conservation, and dissemination of local arts and culture, in line with the modern museum development approach.

The permanent exhibition focuses on various aspects of Ubon Ratchathani Province, including geography, geology, history, archaeology, folk culture, and ethnology. The exhibition is divided into 10 themed rooms.

The museum offers numerous activities related to Ubon's cultural traditions and is also home to the International Wax Sculpture Festival.
