Who would have thought! Found a treasure in the Ulan Maodu Grassland — "Grassland Valley Hotel," where Bai Jingting, Wei Daxun, and Liu Haoran filmed "Set Off Now"! Open the window to see herds galloping, watch the Milky Way fall onto the river at night, every snapshot looks like a Windows desktop, so nice you won’t want to leave😭
🏨 Hotel Highlights: Move Your Home into the Grassland Valley
Hidden deep in the Ulan Maodu Grassland, less famous than Hulunbuir but the scenery is simply divine!
• Variety Show Photo Spot: The second-floor public area window is the same one Bai Jingting used for photos. He stayed in room 6209 (rectangular layout + double balconies). Suites on 8/11 are all celebrity favorites. If you’re lucky, you can get the same view as your idol📸
• Stunning Views: The floor-to-ceiling windows at the Valley Hotel are amazing! The first floor faces the grassland valley directly, the second floor frames the sunset glow. Arrive at sunset and watch the grassland turn golden red—breathtakingly beautiful.
• Aesthetic Design: Natural wood + stone combined with geometric architecture perfectly blends into the grassland. At night, bonfires light up by the river, paired with the sunset glow, the scene is so magnificent you’ll want to scream (remember to come on a clear day; sunny grasslands and cloudy skies offer two completely different kinds of awe!)
🌟 Public Areas: Fun All Day Long Without Repeating
The largest indoor public area in the Grassland Hostel, fully equipped so you won’t want to go out:
• Must-visit third-floor viewing deck: Watch the sunrise in the morning, chase the sunset in the evening, and stargaze at night. Hills and mountains in the distance + grassland valley nearby, 360° panoramic views with no dead angles.
• Two outdoor pools: One in the lobby backyard, one by the river. Jump in and the entire grassland is your backdrop. So chill to soak here in summer.
• 270° panoramic valley restaurant: The Mongolian yurt-style roof is super distinctive. Enjoy roasted lamb chops while watching the herders return at sunset, happiness maxed out.
• Grassland coffee bookstore: Order a hand-brewed coffee, pair it with a grassland poetry collection, perfect for a cultured vibe. You could sit here all afternoon without getting bored.
🛏️ Guest Rooms: Five-Star Treatment in Wild Luxury
Two guest room buildings with 30 rooms total, 11 suites each with unique features and full attention to detail:
• Celebrity Room Experience: We stayed in room 6209 (Bai Jingting’s favorite), with two large balconies. The photos he posted on Weibo were taken on the balcony! The room has a round bathtub (some have rectangular ones), a 2.4-meter-wide bed (two 1.2-meter beds pushed together). Lie in bed watching sheep graze and clouds drift by.
• Thoughtful Amenities: Dyson hairdryer, floor heating, kids’ slippers/toothbrushes all provided, plus a Khata-style welcome ceremony. You can enjoy five-star treatment even in the wilderness.
The restaurant prices are very reasonable (cheaper than scenic spots in first- and second-tier cities), with flavors leaning toward Northeastern Chinese cuisine, no blind spots or disappointments:
Authentic beef and lamb dishes, roasted lamb chops so fragrant you’ll lick the plate
Stir-fried small pumpkin is amazing, sweet and flavorful, paired with grassland milk tea to cut the grease and warm your stomach
Be sure to sit by the window in the 270° panoramic restaurant to enjoy the grassland scenery while dining, the experience is unbeatable.
🚗 Practical Tips
Address: Manzhu Tun Manchu Township, Horqin Right Front Banner, Hinggan League, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region (inside Ulan Maodu Grassland)
Transport: 2.5 hours by car from Ulanhot Airport/city center, the whole way is grassland scenery, even beginners can handle the drive.
Small Suggestions:
Book in advance! Especially the celebrity suites, very popular in peak season.
Bring light-colored clothes, they match the grassland better for photos; grassland temperature varies greatly, remember to bring a light jacket.
The days here finally made me understand what “wild romance” means. I’ll come back next time to catch a Bai Jingting-style sunrise🌅
