Day 1: Explore Valletta – Malta’s Capital City
Kick off your Malta adventure in Valletta, a small but mighty capital packed with Baroque architecture and rich history. Don’t miss:
• St. John’s Co-Cathedral – stunning interior and Caravaggio’s masterpiece.
• Upper Barrakka Gardens – incredible views of the Grand Harbour.
• Republic Street & Merchants Street – perfect for cafés, boutiques, and local crafts.
Watch the Saluting Battery cannon fire at noon, and spend your evening at Valletta Waterfront for dinner with a view.
Day 2: Mdina & Rabat – The Silent City & Surrounds
Head inland to the beautifully preserved walled city of Mdina, Malta’s former capital. Wander the quiet alleys and enjoy panoramic views from the bastions. Top sights:
• Mdina Gate & Cathedral of St. Paul
• Explore film locations from Game of Thrones
• Just next door, visit Rabat for St. Paul’s Catacombs and some classic Maltese pastries from a local bakery.
In the evening, return to Valletta or head to Sliema for sunset drinks and seaside dining.
Day 3: The Three Cities & Sliema
Take the ferry from Valletta to The Three Cities—Vittoriosa (Birgu), Senglea, and Cospicua. These historic harbour towns are packed with charm, quiet lanes, and stunning views.
• Visit the Inquisitor’s Palace and the Maritime Museum in Birgu.
• Walk the Gardjola Gardens in Senglea for postcard-worthy scenes.
In the afternoon, return to Sliema—Malta’s modern shopping and dining hub. Stroll along the seafront promenade, enjoy gelato, or take a harbour cruise for golden hour views.
✨ City Tips:
• Malta’s cities are compact—walkable and great to explore at your own pace.
• Use the Valletta–Sliema ferry or Bolt taxis for quick, scenic transport.
• For local bites, try pastizzi, ftira, and a glass of Maltese wine.
