A Refreshing Coastal Escape to Vũng Tàu City, Vietnam

I recently spent a few days exploring Vũng Tàu and was pleasantly surprised by how much this coastal city offers beyond just beaches. It’s only about two hours from Ho Chi Minh City, making it a perfect weekend getaway.

Beaches & Scenery
Front Beach (Bãi Trước) is more relaxed, great for sunset strolls and people-watching, while Back Beach (Bãi Sau) is livelier with soft sand and waves, ideal for swimming or parasailing. The coastal roads offer stunning cliffside views, especially near Hải Đăng Lighthouse—definitely worth the short hike.

Food & Cafes
Seafood in Vũng Tàu is fresh, affordable, and everywhere! I loved dining at Gành Hào and trying local dishes like bánh khọt (crispy mini pancakes). For coffee lovers, there are some beautifully designed beachfront cafes like Soho and Marina Club where you can sip a drink while watching the waves roll in.

Overall Vibe
Vũng Tàu feels laid-back yet vibrant—a great mix of nature, local culture, and modern comforts. It’s a wonderful escape if you want a slower pace and some sea breeze.
