Cape Soya

When we first arrived at Cape Soya, about five hours by express train from Sapporo, Japan's northernmost city of Wakkanai, and then just under an hour by bus, it was snowing heavily, visibility was poor, and the cold stung our skin. Still, when we stood in front of the monument marking "Japan's northernmost point," a sense of accomplishment from our trip and a special feeling welled up inside us. The ocean stretched out silently despite being exposed to the wind and snow, and the atmosphere was reminiscent of a foreign land, gave us a sense of dignified beauty in the midst of harsh nature. Afterwards, we were able to catch a brief glimpse of blue sky. Cape Soya was an experience that will remain in our memory for a lifetime. It was a place where we could truly feel like we were at the "end of the north." #Spring0yenTrip
